Two Quarterbacks, Nine Running Backs, One Prayer
Josh Allen at the top of a superflex board is the least controversial thing anyone did all night. Then the wheel came back and Caleb Williams arrived as QB2, which is a bet that a young passer figures it out on your schedule rather than his own. That is the whole quarterback room. Two arms in a format that starts twenty-four, and no third body if either one gets a week off.
Where the roster actually went sideways is the backfield. Chase Brown, David Montgomery, Jadarian Price, Blake Corum, Chuba Hubbard, Zach Charbonnet, six running backs plus the flex ambitions of a receiver corps built on George Pickens, Chris Olave, Christian Watson and DK Metcalf. That is a lot of guys competing for two starting slots and one flex, on five bench spots. Corum and Charbonnet in particular are handcuff-shaped: useful the week something bad happens somewhere else, dead weight the other sixteen. Meanwhile Dalton Kincaid is the lone tight end, which at least means nobody is stranded.
The receivers share a theme worth noticing: Pickens, Olave, Watson and Metcalf are all players whose ceiling arrives attached to a health note or a target-share argument. Pair them with a quarterback room of two and the margin for a bad Sunday is thin. Evan McPherson closed things out, and taking a kicker with the final pick of the draft is the one universally correct decision available. The rest of this team is a running back convention that forgot to book a second room.
