Great Receivers, Terrifying Quarterback Insurance

Jayden Daniels and Baker Mayfield is a real superflex pairing, and Ashton Jeanty and Bucky Irving is a real backfield. If the draft had ended after six rounds this would read like a contender. It didn't end after six rounds.

What followed was a receiver hoarding spree. Justin Jefferson, Malik Nabers, Parker Washington, Josh Downs, Jayden Reed, Chris Godwin Jr. and Deebo Samuel Sr. is seven wideouts for two starting spots and a flex that a running back also wants. Godwin and Reed both arrive with their own history of missed time, Downs and Washington are slot bodies fighting the same target trees, and Deebo is a player whose value depends entirely on a coaching staff scheming him touches. Five bench spots. Seven receivers. The math doesn't resolve, and somebody good is getting cut in week two so a bye-week quarterback can exist.

Brandon Aubrey in the ninth is the loudest decision on the sheet. He is the best kicker alive and he is still a kicker, taken six rounds before anyone needed to think about the position, in a league where the last pick of the draft handles it fine. Kyle Pitts Sr. is the tight end, which is the eternal wager on a fourth-year breakout that keeps being scheduled and never arriving. The talent at the top is genuine. The back half is a receiver room with a hoarding problem and a kicker who thinks he is a wide receiver.
